This movement, based on a historical monopusher caliber, a 19-ligne manually wound Minerva caliber 9CH from about 1908, has a base plate that has been coated with a deep black PVD treatment. The juxtaposition of the black with the 18-karat rose gold case creates an exciting warm-cold contrast, while the skeletonized dial lends it great depth.

A TIMELESS EXAMPLE OF THE ART OF CHRONOGRAPHS

This movement, already in existence for more than 100 years, worked perfectly before its restoration and embellishment. It originates in Minerva’s early chronograph production when the company was still called Robert Frères Villeret (RFV). Only in 1923 was “Minerva” introduced as a brand name. To this day, the success of Minerva’s stopwatches remains unbroken, most recently flowing into a takeover by the Richemont concern, which led to a partnership with Montblanc. This watch is a great example of the art of watchmaking at the top of its game. And because of its archival age, it was predestined for improvement through Grieb & Benzinger’s historically inclined techniques.
